SmartTransport are responsible for overseeing the implementation of transport actions within the SmartGrowth Strategy and report to the SmartGrowth Implementation Management Group (IMG).

Purpose and Terms of Reference

• overseeing progress against project milestones
• maintaining a 'watching brief' over the management of transport projects undertaken by the SmartTransport partners
• ensuring that coordination and liaison across transport projects and partners (including external partners) is appropriately occurring
• assisting SmartGrowth partners with developing alternative funding mechanisms and sources
• assisting SmartTransport partners to achieve appropriate outcomes through pooling of specialist knowledge and experience
• reporting to the SmartGrowth Implementation Management Group (IMG) on progress and challenges
• ensuring the SmartGrowth partners are informed on issues and projects as they relate to transport in the sub-region

Current Membership
Membership consists of key transport planning and operational staff from:

• Tauranga City Council
• Western Bay of Plenty District Council
• Environment Bay of Plenty
• New Zealand Transport Agency

Meetings are held monthly and are not open to the public.
